Dispatched uses this type of device to provide real time vehicle tracking information in the software program. The software will display the vehicles location, speed, altitude, and coordinates. Speeding alerts and geofencing notifications can be set to notify particular users of the software. The GPS data is also logged to produce a "bread crumb trail" of where the service vehicle has been. For true real time GPS vehicle tracking, data pullers are the only way to optimize routes, find the closest technician to a site, and monitor the vehicle status. Data pushers include cell phone GPS tracking or mobile device GPS tracking. Many companies currently rely on this type of device to track their service technician locations. The device is typically a GPS enabled mobile phone that can be queried for its location using a web site interface. Most of the current mobile phone providers such as Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon typically limit the number of queries to 4 an hour or the interval to every 15 minutes. Usually, a GPS vehicle tracking report is not available, and if it is, it will only display up to 4 locations per hour. This means that there is no way to tell where the device has been. Furthermore, all GPS enabled phones can easily have the GPS tracking feature turned off by the mobile phone user.
